Proper Poker League

Rules

First rule of proper poker league is.....no fucking whizzes!

Actually most of the rules are exactly the same, the only difference is with the points system.

In PPL people are not rewarded for turning up, or for folding every hand to reach the final table. Players must gain as many points as possible by reaching the final paying positions. Points are scaled based on the number of players in the game and final position applies a multiplier to work out the final points.

Paying positions are based on a third of the playing field, and are always rounded down. So for example:

  • A game with a six player field will yeild two paying positions.
  • A game with a nine player field will yeild three paying positions.
  • A game with a eleven player field will yeild three paying positions.
  • A game with a twelve player field will yeild four paying positions.

Multipliers are applied to the final positions paid so that the seperation between payouts actually mean something.

So for example:

  • A game with three paying positions: 3rd place pays 10 x 1 = 10 points, 2nd place pays 20 x 2 = 40 points, 1st place pays 30 x 3 = 90 points
  • A game with five paying positions: 5th place pays 10 x 1 = 10 points, 4th place pays 20 x 2 = 40 points, 3rd place pays 30 x 3 = 90 points, 2nd place pays 40 x 4 = 160 points, 1st place pays 50 x 5 = 250 points
  • A game with seven paying positions: 7th place pays 10x 1 = 10 points, 6th place pays 20 x 2 = 40 points, 5th place pays 30 x 3 = 90 points, 4th place pays 40 x 4 = 160 points, 3rd place pays 50 x 5 = 250 points, 2nd place pays 60 x 6 = 360, 1st place pays 70 x 7 = 490 points

The league will run the same number of weeks as the pub league.
